Evidence-based hair loss information, on your terms

GrowThickHair is a guide to hair growth treatments that have clinical research behind them, written for people who have noticed hair loss and want to understand their options without pressure or fear-mongering.

Treatments that actually work

The site covers the treatments with decades of clinical research behind them, and it is clear about which category each one falls into: prescription, over the counter, device or surgery. Not miracle cures, not snake oil.

  • Finasteride and dutasteride: prescription DHT blockers
  • Minoxidil: foam, liquid or oral; topical needs no prescription
  • Laser devices: FDA-cleared LLLT caps and combs
  • Hair transplants
  • The Big 3 protocol, and how the pieces fit together

How the site is written

The home page puts it in three phrases: science-backed, no BS, your terms. Each treatment page explains what the evidence shows, what the treatment does and does not do, and what to expect, so that the decision stays with you. The site takes no position on whether you should treat hair loss at all; it exists so that if you do, you choose with accurate information in front of you. No pressure, your choice.

Not sure where to start?

The treatment quiz points you to the treatments and guides that fit your situation, and the Getting Started guide is written for the day you first notice hair loss and do not yet know what kind it is. Neither replaces a conversation with a healthcare provider, and the site says so plainly.

The blog

The blog goes beyond male pattern hair loss into the questions people actually search for: why shedding shows up three months after whatever caused it, how to tell telogen effluvium from balding, what postpartum shedding looks like and how long it lasts, traction alopecia and the point at which it becomes permanent, hair thickness versus hair count, iron and ferritin, hard water and chlorine, and which supplements have real evidence behind them. Much of it applies to anyone with hair, not only the men the home page speaks to, and none of it is written to frighten you into buying something.
